SIDR Crafts

(Left - Abduljabbar ; Right - Abdullah Khatri)
‘Shehenshah of Shibori’ translates to kings of Shibori and for us, these brothers, Abduljabbar Khatri & Abdullah Khatri are pretty much that. Tucked away in the hot desert city of Bhuj, this duo has been mastering the craft and spreading the love for several tie and dye textile techniques locally and globally. They’ve won awards internationally for their intricate work which involves an elaborate process of finely folding fabrics, clamping them and then dyeing them to create repetitive patterns, mostly geometric and always trippy!
There’s no pattern that they refuse for everything we ask of them is a challenge they love to defy with technique and sheer experience. Their team joins them in the backyard, taking shade under freshly dyed fabrics drying under a scorching western sun. In conversations over chai, they jam on ideas, wrap up fabrics into folds, dip, dry and delight with what few can achieve in India and around the world. We are grateful and lucky they said yes to us for our debut collection!
